LIKE A PRAYER by choreographer Barnaby Booth and Poetic Disasters Club (Club Guy & Roni's junior company) is going to De Parade this summer!
“Within the enlarged emotions and characters, there’s also room for humor. As a result, LIKE A PRAYER never gets too dark or heavy” – NRC
“Choreographer Barnaby Booth creates magical moments in which he examines intergenerational traumas. (…) A cleverly balanced performance.” – Volkskrant
In LIKE A PRAYER, together with the Poetic Disasters Club, choreographer Barnaby Booth explores the space between darkness, absurdity, and humour. Inspired by the theme of family, and more particularly how attitudes and trauma get passed down through generations, LIKE A PRAYER welcomes you into a haunted house filled with the ghosts that surround and are within us.
“Darkness is reached through humour so often, and it’s through making this connection in my own work that I decided to make a dance about ghosts.” – Barnaby Booth
Inspired by Taika Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows and Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s Bojack Horseman, Booth dove headfirst into researching silliness, humour, and absurdity with dance… with a twist.
The Hague: July 13–17 | Utrecht: August 2–7 | Amsterdam: August 18–22
Online ticket sales for De Parade will start on June 1st. Of course you can also buy your tickets at the festival site. This is possible at the central kiosk on the Paradeterrein as well as at the tent ticket offices.
